| 'An Unexpected Arrival' |

Last month I purchased a couple of original sketchpages from UK artist/illustrator Rob Laro. I've been watching this guy's growth for the last couple of years and his works has always served as an inspiration to my ever-famished, artistic retinas.
The package was suppose to arrive a couple of weeks ago but due to my excitement I didn't notice that my home address was incomplete with my paypal account. What's bizarre is that it doesn't register my complete street address no matter how many times I edit it. I'll have to be cautious from now on.
So weeks passed, and I remained optimistic throughout. This morning I noticed a cardboard tube sitting on top of my mom's desk, and brought it up to my office:

And within it contained these lovely pieces:

Rob's works has always been fascinating. His current style reflects a very simple yet attractive approach to illustration. From his trademark painted borders, vibrant color palettes and sexy curves; his creations never disappoint.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I realized that he's also pretty diverse with 3D and knows way more than a lot of people give him credit for. He's currently working on something big and I'm very excited on what he's cooking within the confines of his workplace.
You can check out his works at:

Thanks again Rob! Now its time to buy some frames for these beauties.
LIFE REPORT!
Life's been very hectic lately. Nothing negative of the sort, its just keeping me productive and occupied. I'm terribly sorry for those who have been anticipating my next video. I'll have to prioritize and get that thing done.
I've got a bunchload of projects due in the next couple of months and it'll be something very new and different. Its so massive that I had to get a personal daytimer and set a daily, weekly and monthly schedule for myself just to keep up.
What is it? I can't tell you. You'll just have to wait and see :D |

Dalies and Mentlegens, the new SkullgirlS site is now live!
Many thanks to John Walsh and Shawn Coty's collaborative efforts for bringing the site together.
The old site needed a huge overhaul so we re-designed everything from scratch and focused the main content more on a developer's perspective.
Stay tuned folks! |

[May. 19th, 2009|02:58 pm] |
My biological dad just posted the grossest thing ever on Facebook. He's been having withdrawals since his coffee supply ran out:
"Or better yet, i'll put the used grounds in a condom, prick it full of holes, and stick it in my ass. i should get my fix with that. gross but effective. bwa ha ha ha ha! Anyone want a consult?"
He's a doctor btw. I wonder if humor is genetic. |

| 'CamStudio Bull' |
[May. 17th, 2009|04:59 pm] |
Greetings guys!
I just wanna let everyone know that its taking me a while to set up my next video. I've been testing and re-testing different settings on CamStudio for almost a week now and the bugger's been choking up almost everytime when I record myself working.
Seems that this program has its limits when recording at a high resolution greater than 720 x 480 pixels and most of the good lossless codecs aren't compatible when I import and play it on After Effects (I don't have Premiere ;o;). Either the videos just die when I render it or the cursor movement in the video creates 'ghost cursors', since I had to sacrifice keyframe captures for file size.
The safer codecs like the Microsoft Video 1 had no import/rendering problems when I did 1-minute video recording sessions, but it was still ridden with issues regarding color and quality. It was not as crisp compared to the lossless codecs I tested.
I guess the biggest issue for me here is file size. Making a 15-minute video spawned a massive 4 gig file right on my desktop and CamStudio crashed several times before it finally rendered one without issues.
I lost a 2-hour recording session after I did the 15-minute recording test on one of recent digital paintings and to put it mildly, I wasn't really happy when that happened.
But that's all in the past. I'm still struggling to figure this thing out and sad to say I'm probably gonna have to compromise video quality once I get the video up and running. I'm re-recording the 15-minute test footage in 2 parts and its scaled down at 720x480 using media player classic.
So as a precaution, don't expect anything too fancy. I wanted to put a proper title and credits at the end using AE but its not gonna let me do that without it messing up the footage. DAMN YOU GHOST CURSORS!
If anyone has any CamStudio experience and solutions to this mess, please, IN THE NAME OF CHRISTOPHER WALKEN'S SAGGING SCROTUM, help this distressed shadow of a person out.
Enough text and drama. Here's a 10 minute sketch of one of Dylan Meconis' characters:

P.S.
I love you Christoper Walken ;o; |
