'Takayuki Takeya Pusher Hopper Kit' [Feb. 14th, 2007|07:47 pm]

Package from Hobbyfan.com arrived today! I finally got my first Takayuki Takeya garage kit!

Takeya's probably one of the best sculptors/monster designers I've ever seen and his works are just freakin' awesome.

He's the dude responsible for all the mechanical and creature design in Advent Children and the upcoming FF Versus XIII, but his best works IMO are his renditions of H.R. Giger's Alien and old Japanese superheroes like Kamen Rider / Kikaider.

I bought his "Disaster of the Pusher Hopper" kit :D

I just can't get over the details when I first opened the package.

Its been years since I've played around with model kits and I've never seen anything like this. Definitely not for the amateur hobbyist, nor for the weak-handed.

There was a lot of excess plastic that need to be nipped/scrapped off and I already sustained a couple of cuts. I can't wait to paint this thing after I've pieced everything together.

Check out these finished kits:

I personally love Jason Tarpley's Hopper:

P.S.

Evidence! Looks like a thumb print to me ;3;

most of the excess are flimsy transparent plastic, the others are angular bars much like the ones seen on gundam kits only its 5x thicker that were a bitch to remove.

Its actually pretty tall (almost 1 ft), bigger than most models I've seen.

I found a couple more on the base, as I found out he uses his fingerprints to create muscle textures by dragging it around a desired area.

LOL funny though I think unpainted anime kits are more difficult to sculpt since they're smooth all over, unless you have an unlimited supply of sandpaper with different grits.

Friggin' SICK model, Alpha!

I've always wanted to try my hand at a model kit but lack the painting skillz and patience. Would love to see your method of beautifying this monster <3

(Oh shi--Takayuki Takeya is the sculptor of one of the anatomically correct Devilman kits! Fanboysquee!)

Much thanks Shawn ;3;

Well you can start small and try painting one. I never actually painted a kit before and my last one were all gundam kits lol. Aye I have to round up some paint first before I do anything and we'll see how it turns out :D

Takeya's Devilman kit can be purchased here actually:
