Heading out to SDCC in the morning! I'll be signing copies of Comic Book Tattoo at the Image Comics booth (#2729) with newjason, who wrote the story I drew (I think it's the fourth one in the book). I'll also have buttons & prints and I'll be doing little sketches during my times. If you're having trouble catching me and you really want to say hey or buy stuff, just email me and maybe we can meet up. ;)
Signing Schedule - Image Comics Booth #2729
Friday: 2pm to 3pm Saturday: 2pm to 3pm Sunday: 3pm to 4pm
Also, the CBT panel will be in room 6b at 11:30am on Saturday. Anyway, we're crazy psyched about the show. Hope to see you there!
K, so I'm pleased with the work I'm doing. I'm not pleased with everything else. I'm a huge fuck up. So whatever, I'll just live the rest of my life alone then.
Art makes me happy. That's enough for me.
P.S. I know I said I would delete this thing... Fuck it. Tomorrow is D day for this piece of shit record of my fucked up failed life. Time to start new.
I just spent the better part of an hour trying to convince people on an internet forum that a dude who ran over a bunch of pigs in a truck and then stabbed them with spears while mocking them in a baby pig voice might not be quite the man's man that he seems at first glance.
I've been tagged by David Huyck (www.bunchofmonkeys.com/words/) to participate in a new Meme.
"Back to basics comic meme"
Draw a ten panel comic about what you were doing ten years ago. Put pen straight to paper - no pencil, no computer, no planning, no starting again if you make a mistake. Simply draw, scan, publish. Tag some people who you’d like to see do the meme too. Oh and if you want to do it even if you haven’t been tagged you are most welcome!"
and if you're a tori amos fan, comic book tattoo is now out! i did the art for a story by rantz hoseley based on 'the waitress.' you can read about his writing process and see some of my in-progress artwork over at comic blog tattoo.
there's also an interview with me in support of CBT in the latest issue of little blue world. to sweeten the deal, perez hilton is featured as well.
and finally, my good friend brandon bird, pop culture curator and fine art enthusiast (plus a very fine artist in his own right), has a rad new blog! there you can see such astounding sights as my first and so far only piece of smallville fanart, sketched in the presidents' gallery of the national museum. i thought lex luthor would be especially pleased by that.
Theres a couple extra never before seen drawing pages!
I also baked the most delicious chocolate cake from scratch ever. The frosting is GOOD. I have never had home made frosting but I'm never going back to store bought ever again!
Thanks to everyone who has wished me a happy birthday!!! :) You guys are too kind
Ah. Started playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein again and lord, my motion sickness is even worse than before! I don't think I can play more than an hour each time. :/ I'm trying to reproduce some of the ultra goofy circumstances that I encountered when I first played the game several years ago. The problem is, I have no idea which map the gliding scientist was on ... or the bouncing bitch. :/ Guess I'll keep jumping maps until I find them and then hope I can get them to do the silly things they did!
Also I always feel weird about doing this sorta thing but when I come across an artist I really like I sometimes directly copy their work to see how they form their lines and that sort of thing. I read Skim recently.
It is with a heavy heart I notice that a lot of peers on my sweet FL still haven't looked into Kaiji.
Do you...Do you guys not trust my taste/judgment [sad violin music] are you afraid the sharp noses will somehow crack your computer screen beyond saving? [snow falling] btw they will
There's easy zero effort online viewing at [crunchyroll], why not peep 2-3 episodes and then if you like it you can get the HQ [torrent batch]! Unless you are ok with the LQ-MQ of crunchyroll of course! (I know a lot of people prefer manga over anime but there is no scanlations to share! The animation and especially the music is great though.)
TRIVIA: The narrator in Kaiji is the VA of ZARAKI KENPACHI oh boy look over here bleachtards!!! Speaking of which I want Grimmjow back where is he.
EDIT: some spoilers will prolly appear in comments so, don't read those too closely!
It's looking like there may well be no update on sunday, since I'll be going on holiday for two weeks from tomorrow in BRISBANE and then TOKYO (I am conveniently positioned!). But, I'll see what happens. If nothing else aeroplanes give you a lot of time to draw, so you never know.
Wright: ...It looks likely that I will do "Scott Pilgrim" next and then "Ant-Man" straight afterwards.
CS: You have a great cast that's been announced for "Scott Pilgrim" so far. Wright: There's some more interesting people buzzing around as well. It's going to be a big ensemble, that film, and there's a lot of fun people we've already been talking to, so there's more to come with that.
CS: [Bryan Lee O'Malley] still has a couple more issues of the story to finish, so have you talked to him about where the story is going to go so you can include some of that in the movie? Wright: The only book that isn't written is the sixth, but our film takes on a slightly different trajectory after the second book and it includes elements from books three, four and five. In some cases, Bryan has used lines in his books from our first draft of the screenplay (chuckles) which is like strange performance-style transference, and it's been brilliant being able to pick his brains throughout this. On one hand, it's a very very faithful adaptation and on the other hand, it definitely molds events from those books into a three-act movie structure, so that's been interesting.
CS: And you know that Mike Cera has this insane fanbase of women, which you might have seen at Comic-Con last year, but it's gotten even bigger since "Superbad" came out. Essentially, every single woman wants him. Wright: Michael Cera? Yeah. I know he's got a lot of growing up he can do if he wanted to.
CS: Once you figure out if the strike is happening, do you know where you'll shoot the movie? Would you go back to the U.K. for it or do it here? Wright: No, it wouldn't be in the U.K. It'll either be here or Toronto. It would be really crucial to kind of shoot in Toronto, so that's what I'm aiming to do.
